The second book in the three volume biography of Churchill by the late William Manchester. This book basically covers the 1930s through the invasion of Poland by Germany and ends with Churchill's appointment as Prime Minister. Much of the book is more of a history of the time period and the lead up to the war than it is about Churchill specifically, but obviously the story is the context and I enjoyed every word. Even with all that I have read about this time period, I still learned a great deal about the incredible attitude of appeasement not only of the British leaders, but of its people up to the very last days. Fascinating book and highly recommended.
